Unlike the regular TCF, it tests all four skills — listening, reading, writing, and speaking — and the results are used for Express Entry, provincial nominee programs, and other immigration streams.
TCF Canada has four mandatory sections: Listening Comprehension (35 min, 39 questions), Reading Comprehension (60 min, 39 questions), Written Expression (60 min, 3 tasks), and Oral Expression (12 min, 3 tasks). For immigration, your final language level is the lowest of the four individual scores, so every section must meet the requirement.

There is no single pass mark; it depends on the program. Express Entry French-language draws typically require NCLC 7 in all four skills, while some provincial nominee programs accept NCLC 4–5. Because your score is based on your lowest section, you cannot compensate a weak skill with a strong one.

TCF Canada results are valid for 2 years from the test date. Your scores must still be valid both when you submit your Express Entry profile and when you receive your Invitation to Apply (ITA).
It depends on your starting level and target score. From zero to NCLC 7 typically takes 6–12 months of structured study; learners already at B1 may need only 2–3 months to reach NCLC 7. We recommend one listening or reading set plus one speaking or writing task daily, with a weekly review of your mistake book.
